Making an audio CD is actually very easy. The most popular way of doing this is to use mp3 files (which u can easy download from the internet) and then copy them to CD. These mp3's have a high compression ratio but still are high quality. The most used compression is 128Kbs at 44Khz.
So how u can copy mp3 files to a CD (which u can play in your home or audio hi-fi CD-player will we explain here:

What you need is:
CD-Recorder and an empty CD-R
Some mp3 files
Winamp latest version
CD-Recording software

First download a couple of mp3 files from the internet to your harddisk.

Start Winamp and go to Options --> Preferences --> use the tab Audio I/O and select by Output Plugins the Nullsoft Diskwriter plugin.

Make a playlist of the MP3 files you want to decompress. You should think about the playtime. This must be the same time as the CD's you
use. (74 or 80 minutes).

Now press the Play button and Winamp will now convert the .mp3 files to .wav (wave) files for you. These should be almost 10 times larger then the original MP3 file... so be sure u have enough harddisk space available!

When Winamp has written the .wav files U will have to use your burning program. See the Software page for CD-Recording software.

  • WinOnCDToGO 4.5: you just select Digital Audio and drag and drop the wave files to the CD
  • Prassi CDrep: you choose to make a Audio (or mixed mode) track and use edit --> add in the top menu.
  • Easy CD Creator: select the Audio CD Layout tab and drag and drop the wave files to the layout screen.

Now just hit the record button on your burning prog and off you go!

An alternative method: only try it if u have got a nice Pentium II system!!! With this method u no longer need winamp for converting the MP3 files to wav files. The recording and converting is all done by Feurio.
Start Feurio and drag and drop all the MP3 files u want on the CD into the layout screen. U have two options: convert .mp3 to .wav before the actual recording or convert during the recording process (only do this if u have a fast PC!! else u will get buffer underruns).
